FIFA are set to allow leagues to stage one match abroad per season, with a new protocol currently being finalised.

Plans last year for Barcelona vs Villarreal in Miami and AC Milan vs Como in Perth both collapsed.

Under the proposal, any overseas match would need approval from all relevant associations, confederations and the host nation before FIFA sign off. 

FIFA are aiming to have it in place for next season, with talks ongoing.
