Manchester United's Football Director, Jason Wilcox Speaks In Detail About How The Recruitment Department Works At Manchester United

Manchester United's football director Jason Wilcox speaks in details about how the recruitment department works at Manchester United.

"Last summer's window [2024] was far more chaotic than this one, whereas this summer's window was very quiet.

“This time, we knew the plan in advance, we knew which players we would target, we had the lists, and we fully understood which areas of the pitch needed improvement.

"There are ongoing meetings between me and Robin [Amorim], and with Chris Vivell and his team, where we are very clear about the profiles we need.

“Ruben and I set the vision, then it is handed over to Chris, and there is a lot of discussion about the type of players required.

“After that, the scouts go out into the market, and we continue the work with the data team, to have an ongoing dialogue between us."

"Currently, I hold weekly meetings with the recruitment team to discuss different profiles: the age group, the cost, the feasibility of signing, and with Ruben present as well.

“The process is truly integrated. When signing a player, there is a large number of people involved in the process including the data team. After that, we focus all our efforts on a specific number of players."

"It is very important that we check the players' behavioral background are they professionals in their lives off the pitch? This is a crucial aspect.

“This year, we focused on players ready for the Premier League, and with Bryan [Mbeumo] and Matheus [Cunha], we couldn't take too many risks. We needed players who could be involved immediately without needing a long adaptation period."
