Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah are set to sell midfielder Equi Fernández to Bayer Leverkusen.
Al-Qadsiah will receive a minimum of $35M, having bought the Argentine midfielder for $20M only one year ago.
If bonuses are achieved, Qadsiah can reach double their investment. And Qadsiah retain a sell-on clause.
The transfer is a strong example of the Saudi market being two-way, and young players arriving and growing in value in a short space of time. Qadsiah now hope to reinvest the funds whether this summer or in future windows.
Qadsiah’s model is similar to that of Brighton, Brentford or Benfica. The club is investing in young talents and prepared to develop them and sell on when it suits all parties.
18-year-old Brazilian Gabi Carvalho and 20-year-old Ghanian Bonsu Bah are two other players Qadsiah belief have big futures.
